Programme notes

The Campinas Film Festival is part of the TOWER VELVET international circuit, celebrating the art of cinema and, above all, the filmmakers who give it voice through their works. The festival is dedicated to recognizing artists who find in cinema a form of their own expression, revealing different visions, experiences, and creative possibilities. TOWER VELVET seeks to promote independent and experimental cinema, creating a platform for the circulation of films, the exchange of ideas, and encounters between filmmakers and audiences from different parts of the world. More than just awarding films, the circuit seeks to bring people together, stimulate new perspectives, and value the creative freedom that lies at the heart of independent cinema.

Rules & regulations

Submissions are open to films completed in the last five years.

Each participant may submit a maximum of two films. Each film requires its own entry and its own materials.

The national sections are reserved for films directed by filmmakers from the host country of this festival.

Entries must carry English subtitles. (Automatic Subtitles on YouTube)

Short films, documentaries, animation and student films must not exceed 30 minutes.

Links to film screenings may be hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. Password-protected links are accepted, provided the password is provided with the submission. The same applies to a 60-second trailer of the submitted film.

A film poster must be submitted with each submission.

If the number of entries in a short-film section is insufficient to form a programme of high artistic standard, the organisation may merge competitions into a single Best National Short Film award.

Every entry is watched and scored by the jury across nine criteria. Final artistic decisions rest with the festival direction and curation.

By submitting, the filmmaker confirms they hold the rights to the work and to all material contained in it.

THE BEST OF THE BEST — LONDON

The winning film from each eligible official competition at this festival will automatically qualify to represent the festival in the international competition THE BEST OF THE BEST, held in London, United Kingdom.

Selection for THE BEST OF THE BEST — LONDON constitutes the international stage of the Tower Velvet circuit, bringing together winning films from participating festivals in the network.

The winning film will be forwarded by the festival organization to the Tower Velvet / The Best of the Best organization, according to the procedures and deadlines established for each edition.

Participation in THE BEST OF THE BEST — LONDON does not require a new application from the filmmaker for qualification purposes under this award.

The organization may request additional materials from the filmmaker necessary for participation in the international stage, including, but not limited to, exhibition prints, subtitles, technical information, promotional materials, and necessary authorizations.

Qualification for THE BEST OF THE BEST does not, in itself, guarantee an award, additional selection, travel, accommodation, scholarship, financial support, or any other benefit, unless expressly confirmed in the official regulations of the respective edition.

By participating in this festival, the filmmaker acknowledges that the award may constitute a qualifying stage for the Tower Velvet international circuit and for THE BEST OF THE BEST — LONDON.
